• Wax it right: The oldest trick in the book for a pain-free waxing appointment is to pull the skin. Not only does this act ensures that the hair from the folds are removed, stretching skin also reduces the pain.
• Follow the after care: Waxing damages the outer layer of skin. The force used to pull out hair, tears the pores, which explains the burning sensation that is experienced after the procedure. It is important to soothe the skin after waxing. Applying a moisturiser or a calming balm like an aloe gel is important. Soon after the procedure, ice may be rubbed over the skin surface to reduce any inflammation. Ice also helps in temporarily numbing the pain.
Other precautions include avoiding tight, well-fitting clothes soon after the procedure in order to avoid aggravating broken skin, exfoliating after 24 hours to prevent ingrowth and refraining from using any alcohol based sprays or lotions like deodorant or perfumes soon after waxing. As an alternative, apply talcum powder if you find yourself sweating more than usual.
